You can go to college anywhere. But if you're like the individuals that come to the U.S. Air Force Academy, you're searching for something more - knowledge. It's something greater than the knowledge that comes with a degree, or even a world-class education. It is a knowledge born of confidence, experience and integrity - confidence that comes with surpassing your personal best; experience in seeing your leadership help others rise above their fears; and the integrity that lies deep in the heart of every Air Force officer. Our graduates leave here with the knowledge that they have just accomplished something few men or women are brave enough to attempt. And if you ask any one of them, they'll tell you - knowledge is power. Discover it yourself. Academics At the U.S. Air Force Academy, we're in the business of building leaders. It's a lofty goal that can only be achieved with the right tools - and few tools are more powerful than a well-rounded education. The Academy is home to state-of-the-art facilities, 30 different academic majors and the highest standards. We strive for excellence in education every day, offering the quality curriculum that can only be found at the highest level. Through hands-on experience and the guidance of their professors, our cadets are preparing for exciting careers as Air Force officers. While the demands are rigorous, the rewards are obvious.  Every cadet can succeed. And most will excel!     Athletics The U.S. Air Force Academy wasn't named "most athletic school in the country" by Sports Illustrated without reason. Athletics aren't just entertainment, here - they're a requirement. Every cadet takes two physical education courses each semester and is required to participate in either intercollegiate or intramural sports. With over 40 different athletic teams available, the Academy has a sport for everyone. There is a powerful team spirit that sustains everyone at the Academy and it's due, in part, to our mandatory athletics program. By playing together, our cadets learn to work together as a team - they learn to trust and to be leaders. Ultimately, athletic participation instills in our cadets a sense of initiative, self-confidence and the knowledge that they are part of something greater than themselves.   To get more information on the United States Air Force Academy, please click here.

Schriever Air Force Base

Schriever Air Force Base formerly Falcon Air Force Base serves primarily as an operation site for various satellite operations. Falcon Air Force Station was established in 1983 as a military space systems control facility. Falcon Air Force Base was renamed Schriever Air Force Base on June 5, 1998, in honor of retired General Bernard A. Schriever, who pioneered the development of the nation's ballistic missile programs and is recognized as "the father of the United States Air Force's space and missile program." The base covers 3,840 acres and its population is approximately 3,800 military, DoD civilians, and contractors. Schriever AFB is commonly grouped with the other bases in the "Peterson Complex". This consists of Schriever Air Force Base, Peterson Air Force Base and cheyenne Mountain Air Station. The host unit at Schriever Air Force Base is the 50th Space Wing, activated on January 30, 1992. The mission of the 50th Space Wing is to provide combat power from space, through command, control and support of satellite operations. The wing operates satellite operations centers at Schriever, remote tracking stations and other command and control facilities around the world. These facilities monitor satellites during launch, put the satellite in their proper orbits following launch, operate the satellites while they are in orbit and fix satellite anomalies when they occur. The wing operates and maintains several satellite programs including the Defense Support Program, the Navstar Global Positioning System, the Defense Satellite Communications System, NATO IV/Skynet 4, Milstar and the Midcourse Space Experiment spacecraft. The wing is composed of three groups, 50th Operations Group, 50th Maintenance Group and the 50th Mission Support Group. The mission for Space Warefare Center consists of the Training, Equipping, and Functioning, of US and Allied forces to conduct full spectrum combat by leveraging operations in, through, from and to space. The mission of the Space Warfare Center (SWC) is to develp and test concepts, equipment, applications and procedures that enable terrestrial warfighters to fully utilize space based assets. The SWC also explores tactics, techniques, and procedures for space control and concepts of operations to assure space superiority for our forces. Finally, the SQC conducts operational testing for Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) deployed space and missile systems.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is a binational United States and Canadian organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning and aerospace control for North America.
